Autumn - My own personal favourite season of the year with its riot of dazzling oranges, reds and yellow foliage colours certainly is a picturesque time in the Kiewa Valley, with the season change comes milder temperatures during the day with just a slight nip in the air morning and evening - a splendid time of the year to get out and enjoy the valley without the summer heat.

Why not try exploring the now completely sealed Bogong High Plains Road with its striking scenery - with a day trip travelling from Mt. Beauty to Falls Creek across the top of the High Plains and down to Omeo coming back via Mt. Hotham (on a clear day gives a feeling of being on top of the world) There are numerous places for you to stop to enjoy a picnic or lunch in one of the quaint towns along the route.

The tradition of Myrtleford celebrating it’s vibrant community throughout the March Labour Day weekend each year continues.  Friendly locals welcome visitors to stay and enjoy the magnificent surroundings they proudly call “home”. Special events and activities held during the extra long weekend include historical, art, photographic, floral and embroidery exhibitions, industries and local knowledge tours, markets, street parade followed by a street party, live music, breakfast in the park, bike rides both motorcycle and bicycle, movies, fireworks, and sporting events. The Myrtleford Festival is truly a family festival.

Mount Bogong Conquestathon

A Guided climb up Mt Bogong open to runners, walkers and family groups. Medallions awarded to those that complete the climb. A 22km difficult run/walk to the summit of Mt Bogong via the Staircase spur, returning along Eskdale Spur. Meet at Mountain Creek picnic ground 6.30-7.00am start. Entries welcome on the day. Entry Fee $15 single or $40 per family. All supplies must be carried by entrants and a good level of fitness is required. Map supplied. All proceeds to the Mt Beauty Lions Club. 

Deciduous Delight at Bright Bike Ride

Join the Audax Australia Cycling Club for a spectacular long distance ride through the Great Alpine Valleys in autumn. The ride will take in areas such as Bright, Myrtleford, Lake Buffalo, Beechworth and Yackandandah. All rides begin and end in in Bright. Register by April 14, members $15, non-members $20.
100 km, 172 km & 200 km rides.

The highlight of the Bright Autumn Festival with monster market, bands and entertainment, the Gala Day 'Storybook' Parade starts at 1.45pm, followed by the RAAF concert in the park approx 3pm.

Wandiligong Nut Festival

The Nut Festival celebrates the local harvest of chestnuts, hazelnuts and walnuts in historical Wandiligong. There is a produce market with a "make it, bake it, grow or produce it" ethic, an Art Marquee featuring local artists, live music, Nut Expo including tastings, a cooking competition, food and wine matching and cooking demonstrations.

La Fiera – Let’s have fun the Italian way!

In 2010, the La Fiera Italian festival will continue to amaze, entertain and delight you. Festivities kick off with a grand Venetian Masquerade Ball and conclude ten days later with a Lantern Parade and fireworks display. Mount Beauty Half Marathon
